ARSENAL defender Lauren has emerged as a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid after revealing he is in serious dispute with the Premier League champions.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international`s contract runs out this summer, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will only offer him a one-year extension.
`I have been with Arsenal for four years,` said Lauren. `And I believe I have performed well enough to expect improvements in a new contract.
`If Wenger values me as much as
he says he does, the club will have to make an effort.`
Real Madrid`s new coach, Wanderley Luxemburgo, is keen to keep the pressure on Spanish League leaders Barcelona and with Jonathan Woodgate unlikely to play again this season, the defence is one area he is desperate to improve.
And Lauren, an integral part of Arsenal`s title-winning defence last season, admitted: `I have had offers from important Spanish clubs. I want a quick solution. I just want to concentrate on my work.` - PA Sport.
