Eto`o brace saves Cameroon (22.06.2008)
Striker Samuel Eto`o scored a last-minute goal to give Cameroon a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in Group One of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers on Saturday.
The Taifa Stars seemed to have earned themselves a deserved draw when Danny Mrwanda`s strike made it 1-1 with 12 minutes to go.
But the Indomitable Lions showed their resilience and character by attacking the visitors` area, helping Eto`o to score at the death.
The Barcelona striker had opened the scoring in the 67th minute when he was picked out by
Geremi and swivelled to blast past Ivo Mapunda.
The victory left the Indomitable Lions at the top of the table with ten points and on the verge of making sure of progress to the last phase of the qualifiers.
Tanzania maintained their third place with two points after four matches.
The group`s other game for this weekend will be played on Sunday when second-placed Cape Verde host Mauritius.
Cameroon travel to Cape Verde in the next round of matches in September while Mauritius host Tanzania.
