Cameroon ace defender was honoured during the Cameroon — Togo match.
The 29-year-old Cameroon skipper played a record-breaking 25th African Nations Cup finals match last Wednesday when Cameroon faced Togo at the Cairo Military Stadium. He was offered a special trophy by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the start of the second half of the encounter. CAF president, Issa Hayatou handed over the trophy in the presence of Cameroon`s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Philippe Mbarga Mboa.
In the same light, the captain of
theIndomitable Lions has also joined an elite band of six other Africans who have passed the 100 cap landmark with their national teams. At 29, the ace defender reached his 100 appearances for Cameroon when he played against Angola in the African Cup of Nations Group B match at Cairo`s military stadium last Saturday.
Song Bahanag has been an international for the last 13 years. He has played three World Cups and won two African Cup of Nations titles. He made his debut at the age of 17 in a friendly international against Mexico in Los Angeles in September, 1993.
