FRANFURT
Rudi Voller commented on his personal life and his side`s World Cup 2002 plans in his interview to the German newspaper Express on the eve of the Germany national team`s trip to Japan.
Referring to the question about his sons` future, the Germany coach stated.
"First of all I want them to grow up as good people. I am not so much concerned about their future in soccer, it is more important to see they are doing good in school."
Commenting to the question on his personal and professional life, Voller said:
"I give the majority of my time to soccer, however my personal life is also of great importance
for me. I have spent long hours with my wife Sabrina thinking about the Football Federation`s proposal to extend my contract with the national team till 2006. Actually my wife wants me to stay with the team, at the same time imposing one condition: I should turn off my cell phone and soccer news while I am at home."
Finally the Germany coach shared opinions on the World Cup matches.
"I am a realist and I am very well aware of the upcoming challenges. However, I am still optimistic about our chances, as the team hold serious preparations for the tournament, and despite our innumerous injuries, we are ready to present a number of surprises."
