Kenya/Rwanda: Indomitable Lions Stop Over in Nairobi for Rwanda Match (31.08.2006)
The Cameroon national team arrived in Nairobi yesterday for a three-day training camp ahead of their weekend Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
A team official, Martin Etonge, told journalists it was unlikely they would play Harambee Stars in a build-up match before the weekend.
"We are still thinking about it but it is highly unlikely," he said.
The Indomitable Lions were without Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto`o, who is expected this morning. Eto`o was involved in a midweek clash in Barcelona and could not link up with the rest of the team yesterday. Barcelona beat Celta Vigo 3-2, with Eto`o, Messi and Eidur Gudjonson scoring. Chelsea midfielder, Geremi Njitap, said they are delighted to be in Nairobi and hope it will help them prepare well for the Rwanda match.
"We have heard so much about Nairobi and we are glad to be here," he said.
Njitap said they want to build a new side after their failure to qualify for this year`s World Cup in
Germany.
"We have a new coach and new players coming into the team. It shows our determination to regain our past form," he said.
